Welcome to the cherished Eleventh Heaven
New '11' Series Number Plates - thousands of names and words to be made available!
The current registration number system
In September 2001 the current bi-annual system was introduced, when all newly issued registration numbers included the ‘51’ year identifier. It was intended to begin the system with '01' in March of that year but the launch was delayed and instead the preceding prefix series continued for one more iteration with the 'Y' prefix.
The current system will see us through until 2049 (the series will be concluded with '99'). The first ten years have seen in the identifiers '51', '02', '52', '03', '53', '04', '54', '05', '55', '06', '56', '07', '57', '08', '58', '09', '59', '10', '60' and now the new '11' series.
The long awaited '11' series of registration numbers will be released by the DVLA on Tuesday, 7th December. Every March and September, the DVLA issues two new series from the current range of registration numbers, the most recent releases being the '10' and '60' series in 2010. As anticipated the new '11' series is creating an almost unprecedented amount of interest and it’s not hard to understand why.
Despite the fact that none of these new registration numbers can be assigned to vehicles registered before March 1st 2011 (you don't actually need to own a vehicle to buy one - see insert below), the range of meaningful combinations is vast and diverse with some stunning name and word matches. What gives this series the edge over its sisters in the range is the fact that the number '11' can represent, to a very pleasing extent, the following letters / combinations:-
LL, L, I, II, IL, LI, H, N and U
This has created many prospects to fashion cherished number plate name and word matches from what is probably the best vehicle registration year identifier that will be seen from the entire range. Out of the several million permutations, there will in fact be tens of thousands of meaningful number plates, available for purchase. Some stunning examples include:-
| D011 YXX - Dolly XX | SO11 ARD - So hard | SM11 THS - Smiths |
| BA11 OON - Balloon | CO11 ECT - Collect | BR11 CEx - Bruce x |
| BU11 DOG - Bulldog | TA11 EST - Tallest | BE11 BOY - Bell boy |
| AL11 SON - Allison | BR11 NOS - Bruno's | GA11 ERY - Gallery |
| LO11 DON - London | PU11 EDU - Pulled You! | WA11 ACE - Wallace |
| xM11 LER - x Miller | BA11 ARD - Ballard | BA11 NED - Banned |
| LA11 RAS - Laura's | DE11 SAM - Dell & Sam | LO11 SME - Lou's Me |
Not getting a new vehicle? - Don't despair!
If you won't be in possession of a brand new vehicle this March, there is no need to worry since you can purchase and maintain one of these registration number plates on a Certificate of Entitlement indefinitely (subject to annual renewal fees, currently £25). You are then free to assign to a qualifying vehicle as and when you are ready. The transfer fee will already be included. Alternatively, you may wish to purchase one as a number plate investment, so keeping one on a certificate is ideal.
