The 68 series of registrations became available for vehicles in May 2018. These number plates can be displayed on vehicles first registered on (or after), 1st September 2018, although you don't actually need to be in possession of a suitable vehicle to own a 68 registration plate.

You can purchase a 68 registration and keep it on certificate indefinitely, assigning it to a suitable vehicle in the future, or simply retain it on certificate as an investment.
