One of the most prestigious registration numbers, released by London Council in 1903, is owned by HRH Queen Elizabeth II. The history behind these early release number plates is interesting. When they were first released, unlike today, they were offered on a first come first served basis and after queuing outside the London City Council offices all night, Earl Russell just managed to secure the legendary A 1 plate. It's unlikely Her Majesty followed suit with a royal sleeping bag.

Paul Daniels

Magic in his hands, MAG 1C on his car. This private plate is owned by one of the World's most accomplished magicians, Paul Daniels. Like a rabbit and a hat, the priceless word plate is probably the most fitting amongst all the professional celebrities. In the number plate world, it is legendary.

However, Paul claims that he doesn't have a particular interest in personal plates, but when working as a civil servant during his younger days, he had the foresight to predict the registration MAG 1C. "I asked if it was for sale and who owned it. I even offered a thousand pounds for it. The answer was a definite no.", told Daniels. As his career as a magician started to take off, he was offered the registration on a Mini but turned it down doubting it was genuine.

It wasn't until the mid eighties that Paul discovered MAG 1C was for sale along with the Ferrari it was on. "When I answered the advertisement in The Times, I discovered the plate had indeed been issued - to a Scottish Councillor, who'd had it on a Mini! I went ahead and bought the plate with the Ferrari. The previous owner told me that he was so glad I was buying the car and plate because he was sick of people asking if it belonged to Paul Daniels", adds Paul.

Lina Lusardi

Actress and former top model Linda Lusardi has found herself a close match to her name with a new style personalised plate! She was actually offered a closer match some years ago at a photo shoot and in hindsight, regrets missing out on the opportunity to claim the perfect personal number plate L1 NDA. "Every time I think about that I kick myself that I didn't buy it!" exclaims Lusardi.

Linda began her career as a topless model at the age of 18 as a Page Three girl in 1976. The following year she appeared on the covers of the magazines Mayfair and Fiesta. She subsequently posed nude and was featured on the cover of the magazine Penthouse in 1985. As an actress, Lusardi has appeared in the drama series The Bill and Brookside and for a short while joined the cast of Emmerdale in 2007. Along with husband Sam she regularly appears in the pantomime "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" and recently starred in ITV's Dancing On Ice.

Englebert Humperdinck

The sixties ballad sensation Engelbert was eager to put this early "release" registration plate on to his pride and joy, his Rolls Royce Corniche! Having been the proud owner of EH 1 for many years, his wife decided he should have another cherished number plate for his other car. Displaying his birth date and original initials he now also owns 25 AGD (2nd of the 5th Arnold George Dorsey).

Engelbert Humperdinck, well known for his inimitable three-and-a-half octave range and mega smooth onstage charm, had a string of hits in the sixties including Release Me, Winter World Of Love, There Goes My Everything and A Man Without Love. His musical legacy comprises sales of an astounding 150 million albums worldwide, including 64 Gold and 24 Platinum. Also a charitable man, he has made commitments to several aid organizations including the Leukemia Research Fund and the American Lung Association.

The last in his family to succumb to the magnetism of number plates, Nicky clarifies it's the fun aspect that appeals to him and not any urge to swank or express his success.

Boxing sensation Amir Khan felt his car was just missing a little punch. He found his answer with boxing! Cracking number plate! A self-confessed fan of personalised registrations, Amir believes a good plate makes for a great finishing touch to a nice car. "It just finishes it off. Having a nice plate on your car instead of a normal one, makes a big difference", he says. This explains his collection of plates, V60 XER, A180 XER and R6 KKO.

The young rising star first started boxing at the age of just eight. By eleven he was fighting competitively and at the age of eighteen he shot to stardom winning a silver medal in the 2004 Olympics in Athens. Already the Commonwealth lightweight champion, WBO Inter- Continental lightweight champion and WBA International lightweight champion, Khan confidently looks forward to the major World title fights.

Jimmy Tarbuck

Presenter Jimmy Tarbuck likes to remind us all he's a com1c with this prestigious number plate! The Golf enthusiast from Liverpool has owned the registration since it was first issued in the sixties and along with Paul Daniel's MAG 1C, they are the most recognized private plates of the famous. With one of the most fitting celebrity plates, he must be the envy of every comedian in the country!

Jimmy's first television show was 'It's Tarbuck 65!' in the mid sixties. He also hosted various quiz shows, including Tarby's Frame Game, Winner Takes All and Full Swing. In addition, he was one of the original hosts for Sunday Night at the London Palladium. In the eighties, he hosted similar shows, Live From Her Majesty's, Live from the Piccadilly and finally Live from the Palladium. Recently, he returned to television screens when he co-hosted an edition of For One Night Only.
